Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of Life: the app, this website, and Life's companion apps and connections. Please read them. By using Life, you agree to them.

In short. Life holds some of the most personal information you have, so we take its safety seriously and work hard to protect it. We are also a young company, and no service can promise that nothing will ever go wrong. You agree that Life is provided as it is, and that you will not hold us responsible for losses that come from using it, as the sections below set out.

What Life is, and the data it holds

Life is a personal organizer. It keeps the parts of your life in one place and records how they connect. By its nature, it deals with personal and often sensitive information, including:

  • accounts, bills, payments, card and bank transactions, and what you owe or are owed;
  • documents you upload or forward, such as statements, receipts, invoices, leases and formation papers;
  • properties, tenants, vehicles, warranties, projects, and the people who work for you;
  • contacts, contact logs, and conversations you choose to record and transcribe;
  • places and trips, when you use the Life GPS phone app.

You decide what goes into Life. Some of it may be about other people, such as tenants, contractors or contacts. You confirm that you have the right to store that information and that you will use it lawfully.

We are a young company

Life is built and run by Aspheris, a small startup in the United States; “we” and “us” in these terms mean Aspheris. We are still growing. Features change, new ones arrive, and some are retired. Life may have errors, gaps or interruptions, and it may be unavailable at times while we fix or improve it. You use Life understanding that it is an evolving product from a young company.

How we look after your data

Everything you entrust to Life is treated as private. The precautions we take today include:

  • Encrypted connections. Life is served only over HTTPS, so what travels between you and Life is encrypted.
  • Encrypted storage in the United States. Your records, documents and backups are stored with Amazon Web Services in the United States, and stored documents are encrypted at rest.
  • Your records stay yours. Every record is tied to your account, and every request is checked so that it can only reach the records of the person making it.
  • Your card stays with Stripe. Your card is entered into and held by Stripe, our payment processor. Life never sees or stores your card number.
  • Passwords are never stored. We keep only a salted, one-way hash of your password, or you sign in with Google.
  • Backups. The database is backed up before every update to Life, so it can be restored if something goes wrong.
  • Agents get only what you allow. A personal AI agent you connect sees only the kinds of records you grant it, a few at a time and within a daily limit. It is never given an export of your data. Its changes can wait for your approval, and you can undo them or disconnect it at any time.

We do not sell your personal data. Even so, no system can be made perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that your information will never be lost, altered, or seen by someone it was not meant for.

Your responsibilities

  • Keep your sign-in details private, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account.
  • Check what matters. Due dates, amounts, matches, estimates, reminders and suggestions in Life, including those made by its assistants, are aids, not advice. Life is not a financial, legal, tax or insurance advisor, and you remain responsible for paying your bills, meeting your deadlines and making your own decisions.
  • Keep your own copies of documents that are important to you.
  • Use Life lawfully, and do not try to reach anyone else's data, disrupt the service, or work out how it is built.

Services you connect

Life can work with services run by others, such as Google sign-in, the companies whose accounts you track, maps and weather, and personal AI agents you choose to connect, such as Muse, ChatGPT or Claude. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for what they do with information you share with them, or for their availability.

Payment and billing

Life has no subscription. You pay for the work Life does on your behalf, measured by use, at the prices shown in Life.

  • A card to start. Creating an account requires a payment card and a charge of $1. That $1 is credited toward your use.
  • Charged as you use it. By adding a card, you authorize us to charge it for the use you incur. We charge it when your unbilled use reaches $10, and at the end of each month for any use not yet charged, whichever comes first. Every charge and the use behind it are listed in Settings.
  • What counts as use. Use includes reading and filing documents with AI, recognizing text in scans, transcribing conversations, and storing your documents. We may change what is measured or what it costs; we will tell you in Life before a change takes effect, and it applies only to use after that.
  • Your budget. You set a monthly budget and can change it at any time. We tell you when your use reaches 80% and 100% of it. At 100%, Life pauses work that costs money until the next month or until you raise the budget. You are responsible for the use you incur up to your budget.
  • If a charge fails. If your card cannot be charged, Life pauses work that costs money until a card that can be charged is added. Use already incurred remains due.
  • Questions about a charge. Write to us through Contact Sales before disputing a charge with your bank, so we can look into it and put it right.

Holding us harmless

You agree to hold harmless, defend and indemnify Life and its founders, employees and contractors from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that arise from or relate to:

  • your use of Life, or your inability to use it;
  • the information you put into Life, including information about other people;
  • any loss, corruption, disclosure of, or unauthorized access to data you entrust to Life;
  • services you connect to Life; or
  • your breach of these terms or of any law.

This does not apply to the extent a loss is caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Life is provided as it is

Life is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that Life will be uninterrupted, error free or secure, or that any information in it will be complete or correct.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Life and its founders, employees and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, money, profits or goodwill, late fees, penalties, missed deadlines, or costs of replacement services, arising from or related to your use of Life, even if we were told such damages were possible.

Our total liability for all claims relating to Life is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Life in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars.

Some places do not allow certain limits on liability. Where that is the case, these limits apply as far as the law there permits.

Ending your use

You can stop using Life at any time and ask us to delete your account and data. We may suspend or end access for anyone who misuses Life or breaks these terms. The sections on holding us harmless, warranties and liability continue to apply after your use ends.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Life grows. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and tell you in Life when the change is significant. If you keep using Life after a change, you accept the updated terms.
